Maruti Suzuki India is going to launch a new 2011 model of its popular hatchback Swift in Indian Market.

The new Swift is based on a new platform which sits on a longer wheelbase (+50 mm) and increase the overall length by 90mm. The body is said to be lighter and stiffer while the front and rear tracks are wider by 10mm and 5 mm respectively for even squatter stance aiding stability and handling both.

The new Swift at launch will come with a new 1.2 liter Dual VVT engine which produces a maximum 92 bhp of power& the 1.3 diesel has also been reworked for better efficiency .

As per a report by leading auto magazine AUTOCARINDIA Suzuki’s all-new lighter, longer and more spacious Swift will go on sale in the UK this September, promising better dynamics, increased performance and improved CO2 emissions and economy.

Maruti Suzuki launched a new petrol version of its hatchback Estilo on Tuesday and price ranged between Rs 3.12 lakh and Rs 3.95 lakh at showrooms in Delhi.

All new estilo has recovered from all its drawbacks of its previous version.

According to Maruti, Estilo has established itself as a brand and did not need the crutches of "Zen" to its name , so they dropped the car's "Zen" prefix.

"Estilo is a brand in itself and is very different from the Estilo we launched in 2006 or the Zen in 1993," said Mayank Pareek, Maruti's managing executive officer in-charge of marketing and sales.

The new model is equipped with a 998 cc, three-cylinder petrol engine. According to the company, it is not only more powerful compared with the earlier version but also better in terms of fuel-efficiency, besides being compliant with the latest emission norms.

The hatchback will be manufactured at the Gurgaon plant where the company's "A-Star" and "Ritz" models are produced, Shinzo Nakanishi, managing director and chief executive of the carmaker, said at a glittering event in New Delhi.
"The car delivers a superior fuel efficiency of 18.2 km per litre," Nakanishi said.

The new Estilo is available in eight colours, including four new ones - ecru beige, emerald Blue, dusky brown and quantum orange - apart from the existing silky silver, superior white, bright red and midnight black.

Maruti is also confident that the company will come out of its financial woes in the upcoming festival season as sales are expected to shoot up.

"Last year was a disaster, but we expect better sales this year," Nakanishi said.
The company's signature model "Maruti-800" will be available only in tier-II cities once the emission norms are implemented from April 2010.

Maruti Suzuki is also on course to design a car on its own and launch a made-in-India car by 2012.

Asked about the launch of Suzuki's big car Kizashi in Indian market, Nakanishi said the car "might be launched in two-three years depending on the market condition".

Hyundai has launched their i10 model in the Indian market.
Now, it's the turn of market leaders Maruti Suzuki to respond with a brand new vehicle for the Indian market.

After the recently launched A-Star, Maruti may replace its aging Wagon R with Ritz or may launch it as new model. Maruti Suzuki India has decided to rename the Splash as Ritz for India. The name change is because of registration problem as Splash has been already registered by some other manufacturer
.
It will be 4th new model for the Maruti Suzuki after the launch of Swift, Grand Vitara and SX4. Based on an all-new platform, the production version has some hints of the Swift and SX4, interspersed with a C-pillar design that harks back to the concept.

The Ritz will be launched with two engine options - one petrol and one diesel. The petrol one will be recently launched 1197cc, 4 Cylinders, K12M engine which generates 84 Bhp at 6000 rpm and maximum torque of 115 Nm at 4500 rpm.

The common-rail diesel is 1248cc engine which develops maximum power of 75 bhp, to be manufactured at Manesar in India will complete the engine lineup. All these engines will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Market sources suggest that the company could be working on plans to bring the Suzuki Ritz model here in India.

The Ritz is not the successor of any specific former Suzuki model, but a brand-new concept to satisfy the needs of customers in terms of roominess, compactness, modern design, aerodynamics, quality, driveability, performance and environmental friendliness.

It is expected that Maruti will launch Ritz in May 2009 in 6 variants with two engine options in a price range between 4 to 5.5 lakhs.

Ritz will be available in a choice of 10 fresh colours, eight of which have a metallic finish. Two of the colours – Splash Green and Lagoon Turquoise 2 – were developed by Suzuki specifically for the Ritz. The Ritz is aimed mainly at urban, practical people with modern lifestyles, and it reflects the ideals of the second phase of Suzuki’s world strategy - a phase in which Suzuki is focusing not just on sportiness but also on the needs of families.

Couples and young families in the market for compact cars want a sporty, fresh design coupled with practical attributes such as roominess, flexibility and economy. Maruti Suzuki unveiled its all-new K12M engine at its Gurgaon plant recently.
The engine will be used in the all-new Ritz hatchback that is slated to be launched sometime next few month.

Engine to be used in new Ritz hatchback. 1.2 litre, four cylinder, 16 valve, DOHC, 84 bhp. Bharat Stage IV compliant. Maruti Suzuki's Managing Director and CEO, Shinzo Nakanishi was present at the unveiling of the new powerplant. "The K12M engine is another example of Maruti Suzuki's commitment to take engine technology in India to the next level", Nakanishi said. "This is in line with our parent compay, Suzuki Motor Corporation's focus on maximizing the environmental benefits of fully porven technologies".

The 1197cc engine is capable of delivering 84bhp at 6000rpm and produces 11.52kgm of torque at 4500rpm and. Maruti claims the engine will be Bharat Stage IV compliant. The engine will be manufactured at Maruti Suzuki's facility in Gurgaon that was inaugurated last year with the launch of the A-Star's K10B engine. The engine has an all aluminium construction and features the extensive use of plastic parts. It features Maruti Suzuki's Smart Distributor Less Ignition (SDLI) system that is designed to deliver optimized combustion.

Honda releases a wildcat -the CB1000R into the Indian urban jungle.

Since Honda entered into Indian market a decade ago, we’ve witnessed its growth into India’s second largest two wheeler producer.

TATA's new MPV :- IndiCruz Xover ! ! !

A lot of news is coming from Tata Motors nowadays. Now the latest news is that the Tata Indicruz, an MPV which is based on the existing safari platform is being readied for a 2009 launch.

The Indicruz would compete head on with the Toyota Innova and Mahindra’s new Xylo.

The Indicruz prototype has been seen road testing close to Pune few days ago.

The Xover looks rather modern with a large grille and peeled back headlamp which look very the new Indica.

The interiors appear very roomy and are beige in color.
The dashboard is well sorted out with a lot of storage space.

Quality is expected to be much better than the Safari and a shade better than the new Sumo Grande.

The Indicruz Crossover (Xover) is a 7-seater and will most likely have the latest 2.2 liter Dicor engine, navigation system, ABS and air bags among and classy interiors along with other things like 17" aloy wheels, mirror mounted indicators.

The Xover is expected to launch next year and will be priced beween Rs.10-12 lakh.

But all the automobile giants have decided to launch their vehicles next year that is in 2009.
There could be many reasons for postponing their launch such as economic crisis
or due to Mumbai terror attack or also because of down in car prices.

Prices of cars , two wheeler , commercial vehicle are set to come down by 3.5%
due to the duty-cut announced by government on Dec 07,2008 .

So we all have to wait for 2009......

Fiat Linea : coming shortly........

Some of the Biggies in auto industry launched their well-packaged family sedans to draw in the fancy of the Indians. It was Honda which came in with its City and then Ford introduced the Fiesta. Hyundai joined the race too and its Verna became instantly popular. The latest entrant in this segment has been Maruti which has hit the Indian roads with the hot-selling “SX4....man are back”.!!!!

Fiat on the other-hand has been miserable as far as sales chart and success in India is concerned. The Italian brand tried its hand at the C-segment with Siena and later Petra. Both did not sell.

Now, with the new alliance in place in form of the JV with Tata, Fiat is thinking big for this segment. Thinking big in the shape of Linea.

The Fiat Linea has been designed from dot by Fiat Style Centre. The main objective was to design a sedan which would appeal to all. So the car had to look organized yet elegant, and even Sporty, if possible! Which the Linea manages to look with self-possession.

Fiat Linea will be available in two versions. A 1.3-litre multi-jet diesel that already powers the Swift could come in as an entry-level diesel option which will be complemented by a 1.4L diesel and 1.4 petrol option. Linea will be priced in range of Rs. 6 – 8 lakhs.

BMW is set to launch its new 7 Series by the end of this year.

For this time BMW has developed a host of gadgets in-house. These include lane change and lane departure warnings, infra-red night-vision camera, park assist cameras on the side, radar, and a head-up display, which tells the driver everything he needs to know.

The BMW engineers have spared no imagination in loading the latest 7 with everything your heart desires. The rear seats are ventilated and have 12 massaging bubbles, there’s an in-built 8 GB hard drive for your music, four-zone climate control, concierge service, and an automatic emergency dialling system in case of an accident.

The company is clear it does not want to lose the essence of the ultimate driving machine. Variable damping and modes for the engine and suspension, which include comfort, normal, sport and sport+.

Three engine options – a 3-litre straight-six diesel, a 3-litre straight-six petrol, and a 4.3-litre V8 petrol – power this car. While the big petrol gets the 7 to 100kph in 5.2 seconds, the diesel is pretty quick too, managing the 100kph sprint in just 7.2 seconds. And it’s environmentally friendly too; the diesel engine is claimed to produce just 192 grammes of CO2 per kilometre. BMW has pioneered what it likes to call Efficient Dynamics; the battery is charged under braking, and the alternator disconnects during acceleration, thus providing better performance, fuel economy and lower emissions.

Prices will start north of Rs 60 lakh, and the car will be in showrooms before the year is out.

Force India joins hands with McLaren Mercedes.

Force India signed a five year deal to form a technical partnership with McLaren-Mercedes .

"We are absolutely delighted to be able to announce a technical partnership with McLaren Applied Technologies and Mercedes-Benz HighPerformanceEngines, ,"
said chairman and managing director of Force India Vijay Mallya.

The multi-year deal will see the team's 2009 car - the VJMO2 - powered by Mercedes engines, in an agreement which includes the marque's Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) and will give Force India access to McLaren's network of parts suppliers. The car will also be fitted with a McLaren gearbox and hydraulic systems.

McLaren and Mercedes-Benz are two of the most famous names in motorsport history having achieved superb success in Grand Prix racing over many years, and most recently, a superb victory in probably the most dramatic world championship Formula One has seen.

"Force India Formula One team has been in existence for only one year, and certainly our first season has constituted a learning period," said Mallya.

Honda was encouraged by the lower excise duty on small cars and decided to prepone the launch of Honda Jazz, the company's global hit. The Honda Jazz has a great sporty look and plenty of power as well.

Honda president and CEO Takeo Fukui, here for the inauguration of a unit at the company's upcoming second plant, said the Jazz was coming in early "in view of the importance of small cars in India and the enthusiastic response to the car at the January Auto Expo in Delhi."

The ageing Ikon gets its second face-lift.

it was launched in 1999. In 2003 Ford had revamped the interiors, with better trim and more equipment, while the exterior got a new grille and bumpers. This time around, the external changes are more substantial with new lights, a reshaped bonnet and a more aggressive-looking bumper that has completely transformed the front of the car.

The new Ikon range offers significant improvements ranging from a new advanced DuraTorq TDCi engine offering superior fuel efficiency through to the fresh, bold European design cues. Lewis Hamilton.....F1's Youngest World Champion

Lewis is world champion
Lewis Hamilton became Formula One's youngest ever world champion by finishing fifth in an incredibly dramatic rain-affected Brazilian Grand Prix.

"It's pretty much impossible to put into words," a clearly emotional Hamilton said of his victory.

Felipe Massa won the race for Ferrari and looked set to take the title until McLaren driver Hamilton slipped past Timo Glock's Toyota and into the crucial fifth place at the final corner of the very last lap.

The start was delayed by ten minutes after a brief, but heavy, downpour hit Interlagos just before the mechanics were due to clear the grid.

Although the sunshine returned within a few minutes, the first half of the track was left very wet, so the whole field took the start on intermediates.

Well done Lewis, you deserve all you have achieved. Congrats.

Toyota Fortuner ........making its way to India.

The long-awaited Toyota Fortuner is finally making its way to India. The Toyota was waiting for the face-lift, which has just been launched in Thailand. The headlights and grille merge into one another, while at the rear, clear lenses have been used for the tail-lamps. The rest of the car remains unchanged.

Toyota will assemble the Fortuner at the Bidadi plant from completely-knocked-down or CKD kits. Only one engine – a 3.0-litre D-4D diesel from the same family as the Innova – will power the car. This unit produces 163bhp, but more importantly 35kgm of torque, since it has to shift the Fortuner’s considerable 1.8-tonne bulk. This engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, with the option of four-wheel -drive. In future, a four-speed automatic may also be on the cards.

The interiors are a plush place to be, and the Fortuner promises to provide very refined driving dynamics. It will be available fully loaded with climate control, AC vents for all three rows of seats, and a 2-DIN audio system with steering wheel-mounted controls. Coil-spring suspension at all four corners promises to provide a comfortable ride and sure-footed handling. The Fortuner can pack in seven people and their luggage, although the last row is best reserved for kids or Fido.

As with every product in India, pricing is key, and the Fortuner should retail for Rs 18 lakh, on-road. On specifications and price, its most obvious competitor will be the Ford Endeavour Thunder+, but don’t be surprised if it makes a dent in CR-V and Captiva sales as well. This is an SUV which promises to be a pucca off-roader, people-carrier, and soccer mom wagon all rolled into one. Toyota has ambitious plans to sell 5,000 units a year in India, and to achieve this target, it will have to fulfil all these roles.

First Drive.......The New A-Star

This is the car that Maruti hopes will challenge the Hyundai i10. Known as the Maruti A-Star in India, as it will not replace the Alto here, the car for the Indian market will also have wind down windows and other modifications made to it.

Power comes from the same 67bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine however and it’s suspended by MacPherson struts up front and a torsion beam at the rear. And although it’s only a smidge over 3.6-metres in length, it’s full sized five-door. The car’s standout attribute is the car’s surprisingly slippery drag co-efficient of 0.30

For a start, it’s a much better-looking thing than the small Suzukis we’ve known before. The oversized headlights, prominent radiator grille and the added ‘wedge’ to the car’s bodyside give it a modern, cheeky look, and an abundance of visual appeal.

The new Alto’s cabin isn’t quite as funky, but it’s not far off the class standard. There’s plenty of room, even for six foot-plus occupants, but the driving position could be improved by a steering wheel that adjusted for reach.

At urban speeds and above the Alto displays good rolling refinement, absorbing mid-sized bumps with plenty of quiet composure and good damping. It steers a little oddly; the stability-enhancing dead zone engineered into the system around the straight ahead position feels a little too wide. But there’s no arguing with the car’s turning circle of just 9.0 metres, perfect for urban driving conditions

While the Alto doesn’t quite feel as upmarket or sophisticated as some cars of its size, but there can be no doubting that Suzuki has produced a robust, good-looking, practical, and cheap-to-run car. I'll update the test drive of Indian version more thoroughly later this month, so watch this space for more on the Alto.

VolksWagen BEETLE.....coming back in style

In 1933, Adolf Hitler gave the order to Ferdinand Porche to develope a “folksvagen” means "people's car" in German, later changed to” Volks-wagen", a basic vehicle that should be capable of transporting two adults and three children at a speed of 100 km/h.

Soon after that ,this car was launched all over the world including India. Though extremely successful in the period till late 1970’s, the Beetle was faced with stiff competition from more modern designs. Its peculiar styling, underpowered engine, rough ride, and high noise levels compared to modern vehicles might have made it a market failure. In its day, though, it was more comfortable and powerful than most European cars, and ultimately the longest-running and most-produced automobile of a single design.

This model got disappeared from indian market though that model was people,s most favorite car......and now again in coming 2009, Indians will have the chance to own the original 'people's car' - the New Beetle

In 1998, many years after the original model had been dropped from the lineup in most of the world, VW introduced the "New Beetle" which bore a cosmetic resemblance to the original. Beetle is now manufactured in Mexico for VW's worldwide supplies and could come to India through the completely built unit import route.

VW is investing 580 million euros (approx Rs 3,600 crore) in setting up a manufacturing facility at Chakan in Maharashtra from where it would roll out is small car for the Indian market.
It plans to launch its compact car based on the Polo platform in two variants - hatchback and sedan -- once it starts production at its Chakan plant in Maharashtra.

Earlier the company had said it was looking at bringing in a number of other products, like Passat CC, Phaeton and its SUV range.

The company currently sells Passat and the newly launched Jetta in the Indian market.

The Tata Nano is a proposed CITY CAR . A small, affordable, rear-engined, four-passenger car aimed primarily at the Indian market — first presented by India's Tata Motors at the 9th annual Auto Expo on Jan 10,2008 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi,India.

The ambitious Nano car has not rolled out of the assembly line of the makers Tata's plants yet. But it is already in the Guinness book as the world's cheapest car.

The Nano has 21%; more interior space and an 8%; smaller exterior, when compared with its closest rival, the Maruti 800. The car will come in different versions, including one standard and two deluxe variants. The deluxe version will have air conditioning, but no power steering.

All-new Third Generation HONDA CITY

The all-new Third Generation Honda City is a completely new car from scratch.
The only commonality between the new car and its predecessor is the nomenclature.

Honda Siel Cars India launched the first City in India a little over a decade ago in 1997.Honda pulled the plug on the City at the peak of its career, and introduced the all new City, which was a completely new body style that almost looked like a spaceship. Its love it/hate it looks was accepted by the Indian audience.

The one car that came in to upset the balance, and did for sometime has been the Maruti Suzuki SX4. This robust sedan that had lower D segment like space and brutality was available for a price that was substantially cheaper than a Honda City GXi.

With the competition fighting over second place Honda has again gone and done what it does best, pull out a bestseller from the market and replace it with something that is sure to keep the competition on its toes.

The Third generation Honda City is now poised to move from an Asian car model to a more global market. Honda intends on targeting several new markets with the new City and that would also lead to the fact as to why the new car is wider, longer, more powerful and more equipped in terms of active and passive safety features when compared to its predecessor.

Renault New Megane heading towards India

The new Renault Megane will be in India early-2010. It'll have both petrol and diesel power, and will compete with the likes of the Civic and the Jetta.

The new Megane, the third-generation model, will be produced at Renault-Nissan’s facility outside Chennai. The Megane will be sold across India through existing Mahindra-Renault dealerships, but whether the car will be branded a Mahindra-Renault remains or just a Renault remains to be seen
With the Megane, Renault is hopeful this stylish new model will give its brand the upscale image the Logan failed to deliver. Initial impressions suggest that this stylish new car would appeal to the Indian buyer. The earlier Megane was popular in Europe thanks to a choice of good diesel engines and pricing that made it good value value

The Megane’s interiors is sure to be a hit with Indian buyers, especially those who want to upgrade from Optras and Corollas. The swooping dashboard has a two-part layout, and is available in different colours according to customer preference. So you can order your Megane in contrasting dark-and-light grey or dark grey and beige. The instrument cluster features a digital speedo with an analogue rev counter. The oil temperature, fuel level and door open warning displays are integrated into the same pod as the speedo. Other information is displayed in an adjoining LCD display

The Megane has a range of powertrain options, which include both diesel and petrol engines, mated to either five- or six-speed manual transmissions, or a CVT. A more powerful version of the same 1.5-litre dCi diesel (code: K9), which also powers the Logan, is expected to be the base engine. This unit produces 85bhp, with another iteration producing 105bhp. There is also a 2.0-litre dCi unit putting out a healthy 130bhp and 30.6kgm of torque.

Hyundai i20......all set to launch

After the huge success of i10, Hyundai is about to launch higher version of i-family “i20”.

The stylish i20 has a longer wheelbase than the existing Getz, and the company claims that it is bigger than the Getz on the inside

The hatchback will be manufactured in India and exported to European markets. Its Indian launch will be around November.

You can expect the base i20 to come with the 1.2-litre Kappa engine that currently powers the i10. There could also be a new range of 1.4 and 1.6-litre Sigma family of engines on offer. The i20 will also get the Verna’s potent 110bhp common-rail diesel engine.

All-new Maruti “A-Star” launched in Paris

Now this same A-star to be built in India as “The new Alto”

The first official pictures of the new Suzuki Alto, to be built and sold as the Maruti A-Star in India.

This cute city car will be powered by a new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine developing 65bhp. It will have a five-speed manual gearbox, although Suzuki is also offering a four-speed automatic option, but whether there will be demand for it in India is a question mark.

The interiors of the A-Star are funky, with the tachometer in a pod atop the dashboard, and a stylish music system interface. The typical three-spoke steering wheel and round gear knob are also seen in the A-Star.

The emphasis is to make the A-Star a manoeuvrable and nimble city car, and with its short 3.5-metre length and 4.5-metre turning circle, will be a boon, especially on crowded Indian streets. It also promises to deliver class-leading fuel-efficiency and emission levels, both hallmarks of the Suzuki brand.

This little car is hugely important for Maruti-Suzuki, built as it will be in India for the world.
